The Bible is the believers instruction book on how to live on earth. If you’ve read my other posts, I’ve referred to it as the Believers Instruction Book: Living Edition. It is a very special book written by God through men.

This book is not like other books because it is actually a collection of 66 different books written by at least 35 people from different backgrounds, locations, occupations, time periods, and with differing writing styles. The books in the Bible were originally written in three languages: Aramaic, Greek, and Hebrew.

According to the book of Hebrews, the word of God is living and active, able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. That is why we can read it several times and get different insights that meet our needs for the moment we are in.

We can also interact with the Author as we read the Bible through prayer, asking Him questions, confessing our wrong doings, and giving thanks. The Holy Spirit, who is inside of us, helps us understand and apply the words in our lives.

Just like in my previous post, “Map Reading,” when we don’t understand what we’re reading, we should ask for help. The Holy Spirit is available and able to give us the answer and show us the way to go. There are also Bible studies we could join.

We shouldn’t go very long without reading the Bible because that is how we nourish our souls. Jesus told the devil that people do not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from God. Jesus also told us that He is the bread of life. The book of John tells us that Jesus is the Word. Therefore, reading God’s word is food for our souls.

For suggestions on reading the Bible every day, check out the post, “Reading Daily.”

Prayer

Almighty God in heaven,

Thank You for giving us Your words to live by. Help us to hunger and thirst for You. May we grow strong spiritually so that we can further Your kingdom.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

 Song

Word of God” by Brenton Brown is a new song for me. I like the beat better than the other song about the Bible.

Call To Action

If you have already prayed, looked up the verses in your Bible, and listened to the suggested song, then make a plan to read God’s words every day.
