Several weeks ago, someone close to me had a panic/anxiety attack at work. By God’s grace, she was able to leave the room that had the trigger to go to a wellness room. When it seemed that she wasn’t calming down, she called her friends who were together at that time. So they were able to pray over her.

This person was able to let a colleague know what was going on so that things she was responsible for would be taken care of. The colleague even came in to check up on her and pray over her, too. It took several hours for her to calm down and I was told her friends on the phone stayed to pray with her for most of that time.

Those friends are what I call prayer warriors. They had other things to do and places to go but they stayed on the line to pray over a friend. As believers, we are all called to pray but there are those believers who are skilled, and experienced with interceding for others. They are dedicated to prayer and committed to praying for others.

I am thankful for the prayer warriors in my life. They are the ones I can count on to pray for my concerns. They lift me up when I’m feeling down and keep me accountable in my spiritual growth.

I’m still working on being a consistent prayer warrior. I can be a good soldier being disciplined in my Bible reading, meeting with other believers, and praying but sometimes I’m not prepared to pray out loud for others to hear. I’m good at praying silently in my mind but praying in a group is sometimes uncomfortable. I normally don’t volunteer to close in prayer but will do if asked.

Prayer warriors are ready and willing to pray when needed. They boldly intercede for others. They are able to hear the Holy Spirit amidst the noise of this world and carry out their mission. Would you like to be a prayer warrior, too?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for allowing us to help You change the world through prayer. Help us to hear the Holy Spirit so that we can work with You instead of against Your plan. May our prayers make a difference in this world.

In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.

Song

Prayer Warrior” by New Journey Ministry is a song you should listen to till the end. Another song by the same name by Heirloom but it’s about women prayer warriors.

  Call to action

If you have already prayed, looked up the verses in your Bible, and listened to the suggested song, then read Ephesians 6:10-20 about what we should put on to be ready for battle.
