The family is such an important part of God’s plan that it is mentioned in the very first chapter of the Believers Instruction Book: Living Edition. God created male and female in His own image and told them to be fruitful and multiply.

Our Heavenly Father is a God of order. So He has a hierarchy in the family. The husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church. I like to add that the wife is the neck which helps the head nod or shake. Just like Jesus didn’t come to be served, the husband is to serve and be willing to give his life for his wife.

In the beginning, God said that it wasn’t good for man to be alone so he made a companion suitable for him. The description in Proverbs 31 of a worthy wife shows that women are capable of doing business while taking care of her family.

When there are children in the family, the parents can look to their Heavenly Father as an example to raise their kids. The children are to obey their parents. They are to give their parents the authority they deserve.

When both husband and wife seek God together and individually, then the family naturally honors God through its order and stability.

We interrupt this blog for an important announcement. It’s been over a month since my last post. I thought I was finished with this post but wanted to add more info gained during our family road trip that we did for Thanksgiving. Check out the Arise2 Grow More Facebook Group for more pictures and insights about what happens when children are adults and a spouse is not themselves because of medication and medical treatments.

When children are older, they should honor and respect their parents. Parents should not make their children angry. Sometimes pride might get in the way of parents getting help from their children. There is a fine balance for everyone to get along and do what is right for each other.

 Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for not wanting us to be alone in this world. Help us to focus on You first so that we can love our family the way You want us to. May our relationship with family members bring You glory.

In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.

 Song

Home For The Holidays” by Perry Como is a song we heard on the radio as we drove home from the holidays. We were headed to Oregon not Pennsylvania. We had three different pies for Thanksgiving and the one that was eaten up first was the pumpkin pie. It’s a good thing there was another pumpkin pie so that it was also the last to be eaten up. We did see the Pacific Ocean on this road trip. Traffic wasn’t so bad going but terrible coming back.

 Call to action

If you have already prayed, looked up the verses in your Bible, and listened to the suggested song, then go get a family album of pictures to reminisce by or make a new album of family pictures.
