It’s the 12th day of the month, so we’re reading the 12th chapter of the book of Proverbs. As mentioned in the post “Life Coach,” Proverbs is a great resource for business owners. Here are just 5 verses from this chapter that can be helpful in running a business.
The eleventh verse tells us not to chase after daydreams but work hard. Daydreams are more of the get-rich-quick ideas instead of planned visions of diligent business owners.
Having a business coach or just listening to those that have done what you want to do is what verse fifteen says. We may think our way is correct but getting advice from someone who has been there is wise.
Verse eighteen says we should be careful what we say. Our words can hurt or heal others. Our businesses are to serve our community, so what we say should be true, gentle, and kind. The words we use should encourage and lift up others.
According to the 24th verse, business owners are leaders because of their diligent work. They do not neglect the work that needs to be done.
As business owners, we can easily be weighed down by anxiety or depression. But verse 25 reminds us that an encouraging word brings joy. When we serve our customers well, they will give us a good testimony and those kind and insightful words bring joy. We can look at this verse from the customer’s view. They have a problem that causes them to worry and we tell them of our solution to bring them joy.
Let us know of other verses from this chapter that could be included in this list.
Prayer
Dear God in heaven,
Thank You for giving us the vision to start a business. Help us to follow Your wise words so that what we do glorifies You. May our businesses help others see You and come to know You.
In Your Son’s name, Amen
