Easter brings memories of family gatherings, dinners with friends, Easter egg hunts, and baptisms. This year Easter happened on the last day of the month. The perfect time to think of starting fresh for the new month.
As believers, Easter is the day we celebrate that Jesus is not dead but alive. He is not buried in the ground but is in heaven preparing a place for us. This gives us hope for the future and a reason to start fresh with a new beginning. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are transformed to be the person God created us to be. We can grab onto the courage that the Spirit gives so we can start moving forward in the right direction again.
The small church my family attended in Oregon held baptisms twice a year: on Easter and the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Both of my children decided to get baptized on Easter Sunday.. Baptism is a wonderful picture of cleansing our old self and coming out of the water a new person.
As I write this blog, I see the daffodils reaching out towards the sun, the branches of trees getting color because of new leaves, and the birds looking for bugs and twigs. All pointing to a new season. Spring helps remind us of a new season of life, that we don’t have to stay in the cold, dark, dreary season of winter.
Sometimes when we get frustrated that our goal isn’t going the way we planned or we are stuck, all we need is a reminder that it’s okay to start fresh and we don’t have to wait till the end of the year to do something about it. We can start right now if tomorrow is too long to wait.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being an awesome God of many chances and do-overs. You made the world turn in a day, the moon move around in a month, and the earth travel around the sun in a year. Your mercies are new every morning. Help us to step forward into a new direction if the way we are going isn’t the way You want us to go.
In Your Son’s name, Amen.

Call to action
If you have already prayed, looked up the verses in your Bible, and listened to the suggested song, then think of what you need a redo or new beginning on and just start. Let me know when you’ll start: today, tomorrow, next week, or next month. Don’t wait for the next year to come in order to start again.
