Were you in the path of totality on Monday? We were in the path of Nope and it was cloudy but we still got to see a partial eclipse. It didn’t get as dark as when we were in a total eclipse but it did get cooler. I’m glad we didn’t wait to get out because there were more and thicker clouds during the second half of the eclipse. So there were no sun breaks to take pictures of the solar eclipse as seen from my colander projector. At least I know it actually works.

Some people think that the darkness mentioned during Jesus’ crucifixion was caused by a solar eclipse. The darkness happened from noon to 3:00pm. The maximum time for the new moon to cover the sun is minutes not hours. Since the Passover only happens during a full moon, the darkness could not have been caused by a solar eclipse.

In my humble opinion, God caused the sun not to shine during those three hours of Jesus’ crucifixion. There is no scientific explanation for the sun failing to shine for three hours. The darkness was a sign of God’s displeasure with the sins that were put upon Jesus. Light cannot be in the same place as darkness.

Our awesome God made a way so that the people who rebelled against Him could come back and have a relationship with Him. The darkness could not keep Jesus down. After three days, Jesus came back to shine His light again. That is very good news for all of us!

Prayer

Dear God in heaven,

Thank You so much for loving us enough to make a plan for us to be with You forever in Heaven. We do not deserve your many blessings. Help us to be the light to shine Your love to others that don’t know you. May whatever we do glorify You.

In Your Son’s name, Amen

The total eclipse in 2017 was an awesome experience for me. We were in the path of totality, so we witnessed the darkness of the moon covering the sun, the drop in temperature, and the quietness of our surroundings. It made me feel special to have experienced one of God’s awesome handiworks in our backyard. I shared mine, so what’s yours?
