As believers, we learn a lot from Sunday sermons and reading the Believers Instruction Book: Living Edition. What we learn can be used in our businesses as well. Here are just a handful of best practices from the Gospels.
Be a good and faithful steward. God is our CEO and He has put us in charge of this opportunity. We want Him to say, “Well done!” when He comes again. So we should strive for excellence in our business and follow Jesus’ teachings.
Do things in the right order. There are processes in business. Jesus mentions the first two things. First, we seek God’s kingdom and then we live how God would approve. The post, “Moving Forward,” helps in breaking up the process.
Go the extra mile. Do more than expected. We need to stand out from other businesses and be different in a good way so that our customer wants to know why we went beyond obligation.
Consider others first. Follow the Golden Rule. Treat team members and customers as you would like to be treated.
Be decisive. What you say ‘yes’ to is a ‘no’ to something else. So choose wisely because we believers do what we say and are honest. This can be difficult when we are busy with family and busy with our business but if we start doing all the principles mentioned, it gets easier.
With the help of the Holy Spirit and others of like mind, we can do these best practices in our businesses and see where it takes us.
Prayer
Dear God in heaven,
Thank You for giving us the opportunity to serve others through our businesses. Help us to do business in such a way that You be glorified and Your kingdom expands. May others want to know more about You as they want to be a part of the business.
In Your Son’s name, Amen
