Who am I? Why am I here? Those were questions I asked myself a lot when I was much younger. My answers were varied depending on my mood. I was switched with another baby at the hospital. I was adopted. As mentioned in the post “Our Citizenship,” I even thought I was an alien from another world. According to the Bible, we are adopted by God and we are resident aliens of this world.

The very first chapter of the very first book of the Bible says that God created us in His image. God is spirit so we don’t physically look like Him. We are like Him by the way we can create and choose, we understand right and wrong behaviors, and need relationships.

The New Testament says that we, as believers in Christ, are a new creation. Our old nature has passed away and new things from God have taken its place. We are back to the person God created in His image.

As mentioned earlier, we are God’s adopted children. This makes us heirs entitled to many blessings. God truly loves us and wants us to be with Him forever.

We are also God’s ambassadors. Since we are children of God, then we represent Him. We are to love others as He has loved us and share the gospel with others who don’t know Him, yet.

It’s extremely easy to get distracted by the world and forget who we truly are. So reading the Scriptures daily, meeting other believers regularly, and focusing on what Jesus did are great habits to remind us of our true identity.

Prayer

Almighty God in heaven,

Thank You for wanting to have a relationship with us. We do not deserve the love and mercy that You bestow on us. Help us to remember who we truly are and have the courage to share this truth with others.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

  Song

The Truth” by Megan Woods is a song that I heard on the radio this week while driving home from an errand. I praised the Lord because this fit much better than the one I picked last week while searching for the song for the post “Imposter Syndrome.”
