I’m glad we moved to be closer to our daughter. We see her more than just the holidays now that we live in the same state. I’m also glad that my son decided to join us in the move. He could have moved anywhere in the country since he graduated from university and was looking for work.

It must be a parenting thing to feel so happy when the whole family is under one roof. It’s almost the same feeling when I’m with fellow believers from the church my children grew up going to. As believers, we are part of a huge family and it’s great when we are there for each other during good and bad times.

The family is a way we can understand God’s love for us. As a family, we support each other and love one another especially during difficult times. This week was radiation week for Scott. Our daughter said she would bring dinner on Monday. She showed up with chicken and groceries. I thought it was for her and her roommate but she insisted that it was for us.

When Scott wasn’t feeling well from the cancer treatment, my son quickly jumped in to drive to pick up a friend for work when he noticed that I would be late if I ended up driving (I tend to drive the speed limit). He also volunteered to chauffeur when it looked like Scott shouldn’t drive.

One of the ladies in our small group Bible study planned to stop by with dinner on the day of Scott’s infusion. She also checks in to find out how we’re doing so she can pray. The brothers and sisters in our Oregon Bible study group also prays for us. It is comforting to know we are covered in prayers during this cancer journey by our huge family.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the family You have blessed us with. May Your love for us be shown through our love for others. Help us to glorify You so that we have more brothers and sisters in Your family.

In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.

If you have already prayed, looked up the verses in your Bible, and listened to the suggested song, then read “Love In Action” about family bonds.
