We recently paid our first monthly premium for next year. It was over 5.6 times more than this year’s premium. The first time the healthcare system was changed, our premiums increased over 3 times, but next year’s premiums are manageable compared to what it would cost if we had to pay the medical bills ourselves without help from insurance.
One of the fears of small business owners is not being able to afford healthcare. When Scott quit his job to start his own business, he purchased Catastrophic Health Insurance because we wouldn’t be able to afford the medical bills if a medical emergency happened. I thought we could save the money that would be spent for the insurance premiums but Scott believed that would be testing God.
When the premiums became unaffordable, God provided extra hours so that I could start receiving medical benefits from work. Working for the government had a perk of very affordable health insurance for my family. As long as I worked a certain number of hours, my whole family would be covered with just a reasonable amount taken from my paycheck each month.
Now that Scott’s cancer has metastasized, we need insurance that covers pre-existing conditions. If you are relatively healthy and will remain healthy, please check out the Health Insurance Marketplace or Impact Health Sharing.
Impact Health Sharing is open all year. You don’t have to wait for open enrollment. You also get to see any doctor you want because there is no network. They currently offer comprehensive programs starting at just $73 for individuals and $378 for families.
Prayer
Dear God in heaven,
Thank You for the doctors, nurses, and medical workers who help us during medical emergencies. May You work through them to do Your miracles and the good that is in Your plan. Help us to work with You and not against You in making this healthcare system work.
In Your Son’s name, Amen

Song
“God of Miracles“ by Chris McClarney is a new song for me. The lyrics just bring out what goes around in my mind sometimes. I need faith to arise, I’m not broken yet, and I need to be courageous, too.
