Select Page

Have you ever had a friend request and when you go to check out their profile, the first thing you see is an advertisement for a webinar or invitation to join their special event? When that happens, I usually don’t accept it.

As a business owner, our personal page should not be a place we sell things. On occasions, we could mention our products or services but not the majority of the time. We should have a professional page to do our marketing.

Social media is a platform or application on the internet that allows us to interact virtually with other people. It’s a place to be social and get to know more about others. So that’s what we should be doing on our personal page and for the most part on our business pages.

When we use social media for our business, we need to remember that it is a tool that allows us to be more purposeful. Through this platform we can connect with more people than we could in person. We are able to share content that is helpful and gather like minded individuals into our community.

I’m not an expert on social media but I’ve been in several workshops and a challenge about it. Even then, I’m still learning and experimenting. The mindset for business owners on social media is to serve more than sell.

Posts should start conversations by creating curiosity and asking questions. Posts should give great value by making the reader laugh, learn, or not feel lonely. Let me know if you want more details about what I learned in the workshops/challenge.

Prayer

Dear God in heaven,

Thank you for the tools we have that allow us to connect with more people. Help us to use them wisely and not sabotage relationships. May what we post be something that You would be proud of and would bring glory to You.

 In Your Son’s name, Amen

Song

Come Alive (Dry Bones)“ by Lauren Daigle is not a song about social media but according to Google, it is used a lot in social media content for reviving or starting a business. I think it should be an anthem or prayer for all those addicted to scrolling, so they find other ways to use their time.

 Call to Action

If you have already prayed, looked up the verses in your Bible, and listened to the suggested song, then think of a post that would generate engagement such as a post that asks a quick question that readers can comment with a quick answer.
