Have you ever felt like you’ve been doing a lot of hard work but your business hasn’t grown? You have a lot of to-dos and are checking them off but there is no progress to show for everything done. That’s what I call busy work.
I’m not saying that busy work is bad. It’s like running on a treadmill. You ran for 30 minutes but you’re at the same spot the whole time! With a business, there is work we need to do to keep things running smoothly but those things don’t really move the business forward for growth.
I tend to do a lot of busy work because that’s what I’m comfortable with. To move my business forward I need to get out of my comfort zone. I need to get customers/clients or get customer/client getters. In order to do that I need to be consistent in my Jesus strategies and marketing plan.
When life happens, a family road trip or a relative visits for a week, it’s hard for me to get back to the consistent routine I had before the interruption. It’s so much easier to do the tasks that don’t require me to get out of my comfort zone. But the more I do the tasks that are uncomfortable, the more confident I get and the tasks are easier or less awkward to do.
I’m glad I have the posts I wrote in the past to help remind me of what I need to do when I get sidetracked or go back to my old ways. Do you have a system to keep you from just doing busy work?
Prayer
Dear God in heaven,
Thank You for the work You allow us to do. Help us to use our energy in ways that move us closer to Your plan for us. May what we do bring You glory and honor.
In Your Son’s name, Amen

Song
“I Won’t Give Up“ by Jason Mraz is a new song for me. I like the soft tones and simple lyrics about being here to stay to make a difference.
